It still blew like snot all week.
Monday paddling fly fisher Lee Saures and I paddled out of River Breeze, hoping to do battle with some denizens of the shallows.
We did battle with the wind instead.
I’m not saying fishing was bad, but Lee managed one ladyfish (at least it was a good one) and one small redfish. I got a few seatrout. It was a tough day, all the way around.
Wednesday David Turnbeaugh and his friend Rachel Frisby joined me on Spotted Tail for another day of wind-blown Mosquito Lagoon fishing. The trout bite was decent, with good numbers of fish caught and released (soft plastic shad), and few kept for the pan.
We also got several black drum. Like Monday, we saw only a few redfish and did not manage to convince one to bite.
Thursday Scott Radloff joined me on Spotted Tail for another day of wind-blown Mosquito Lagoon fishing. Unlike Wednesday we did get a redfish and did not get a black drum. Like Wednesday the trout bite was pretty solid, with the best fish about 24 inches long. All fish were taken on soft plastic shad tails.
Friday Robyn Badtke and her son Jack joined me on Spotted Tail for a half-day of wind-blown Mosquito Lagoon fishing. We saw quite a few fish. They were not particularly cooperative. We got six or so seatrout to 24 inches and one short redfish, all on soft plastic shad.
The boat moving along at five knots while we were trying to fish probably did not help our cause. All in all it was an enjoyable excursion, though.
That is the Easter Mosquito Lagoon fishing report!
Life is great and I love my work!
Life is short- Go Fishing!
