Thanksgiving Report

Thanksgiving Report

Happy thanksgiving to everyone! Best wishes for a blessed day full of friends and joy. And, in spite of Christmas creep creeping a little earlier every year, now it becomes, officially, the holiday season. Be of good cheer!

Thank you for reading this Thanksgiving Report. We again had fantastic weather this week. I got out Monday, and got two reds in addition to a series of mishaps. But I get ahead….

Friday last week, two tires I ordered for the Bang-O-Craft trailer arrived. It was cheaper to buy two tires on galvanized rims from etrailer than to buy two tires locally and have them mounted on the old rims (which really needed replacement anyway). Sunday I put the new wheels on.

Monday morning, one of the tires was flat. So I went to the Mosquito Lagoon with the kayak, getting there fairly late. Did not see that many fish, and did not make to best of the shots I had. Got one redfish (shoreline cruiser) on an unweighted slider, hooked and lost another, and missed a bite. Also got a red on a DOA Shrimp, another fish cruising the shoreline. And I also saw a bittern on the shoreline, which made the day even if there were no fish.

After getting home, I took the flat off and put the old wheel I’d just taken off the trailer and put it back on. That’s when I noticed the trailer lights were again not working. I swear that trailer is haunted.

Tuesday, a trip the hardware store for some liquid electrical tape and a couple sparkplugs happened. I put the boat in the water at CS Lee Park, then liqui-taped every butt connector on the trailer. I let them dry a while by taking the boat for a short spin to the mouth of the Econ. It started on the first pull. The joys of new spark plugs! Arriving back at the ramp, the fuse got replaced (note to self- buy some more 10A fuses) and the lights were working again. The boat got loaded up, and we went home with trailer lights working, I think.

Tuesday night I tried to read (Dark Star Safari by Paul Theroux, travels the length of Africa) while listening to music. It went well until Horace Silver came on. That arrested my attention! I love Horace Silver. My birth was too late, or he died to soon, I was never able to see him except on Youtube.

Wednesday found me at the Orlando Wetlands Park. Too much to do before the holiday to go fishing, sadly. Weather was awesome, too. Below are some of the pictures I got.

Again, enjoy a safe and blessed Thanksgiving.

That’s the Thanksgiving Report. Thanks for reading!

There will be no report this Saturday, and next Saturday’s may well be late by one day or several.

Every day is a blessing. Don’t waste it- Go fishing! Go paddling! Go walking! Stay active!
