Bruce Peninsula to Niagara Falls Report

Bruce Peninsula to Niagara Falls Report and Photo Essay

Thank you for reading this Bruce Peninsula to Niagara Falls Report and Photo Essay. We’ve seen more wonderful things, met more wonderful people, seen more great art, and ate some more good food!

We camped six nights at Bruce Peninsula National Park. On one side of the park was Lake Huron. On the other side of the park was Georgian Bay. Water all around, except the part that’s attached to the rest of Canada, thus a peninsula.

Last week included views from parts of the Bruce Trail. We had some more, at a place called (unpoetically) the Halfway Log Dump, also on Georgian Bay.

Cairn on a rocky beach, Halfway Log Dump.

More rocky beach, same area.

Striped maple leaves along the trail.

Cedar “leaves” along the trail.

We (and quite a few other people) enjoyed a lovely sunset at Singing Sands beach.

We drove around the peninsula, visiting small and not so small towns, passing through pastoral country landscapes, vising farm stands and bakeries. Love the bakeries!!!

Old barn detail.

Leaves are changing color here.

At a restaurant we visited.

Camped a few nights on the Saugeen River, in Paisley, Ontario. Still did not wet a line, in spite of the fact the river holds trout, bass, pike and musky, maybe some walleye, and has a salmon run. Saw quite a few king salmon in a stream near Owen Sound, but only one in the Saugeen, where the most fishermen were.

On the Saugeen.

I believe this is wild bergamot. Could be mistaken.

We visited an orchard- it’s apple time!

Another pastoral scene.

Camped one night at Rock Point Provincial Park on Lake Erie. The park has a fossilized coral reef shoreline that is about 350 million years old that I enjoyed exploring. Incredible fossils, so many of them! I caught a spectacular sunset there, too.

With apologies to Ansel Adams, I call this “Moonrise over Lake Erie.”

Friday morning we left that place and drove to St. Catherines. We met up with son Maxx and Catalina there and now we’re all camped now in a rental condo. Interesting sleeping within walls last night, had been a while. Friday evening we visited Niagara Falls. I didn’t realize they lit it up at night, but oh, yes, they do.

Guess what this is?

And this?

I’m still trying to make at least some photos every day.

Thanks for reading this Bruce Peninsula to Niagara Falls Report. See you next week!

Every day is a blessing. Don’t waste it- Go fishing! Go paddling! Go walking! Take a vacation! Stay active!
