Equinox Report

Thank you for reading this equinox report. Due to the weather, I did not fish this week, even for the equinox, which is a heresy in my book. But I’m long past the point that I’m going out when it’s blowing 15+, just to say I did it.
I did see my pulmonologist Tuesday (which, as could be expected, had the week’s best weather). He told me to eat ice cream three times a day! He has concerns about my weight loss, says your immune system efficiency drops along with the weight. It’s a tough job, eating ice cream. My lung capacity is half of what it used to be. It’s good to be skinny. There are fewer cells making carbon dioxide.
I’ve been going through my fishing tackle. I had a file cabinet drawer full of spin reels in varying states of repair. I called Jake at Mud Hole. Mud Hole does not repair reels, but some of their employees do, and Jake is one of them. He wanted $45 a reel(! – it was $25 last time I brought one in), plus any parts they might need. That stimulated the next step.
I took all five tarpon reels (all Shimano 6000s) and started taking them apart, cleaning them, and putting them back together, which is how I occupied my time this week. A couple of them are like new now, one is better than it was but not like new, one is still in pieces because I had to order new bearings, and one is still on a rod, waiting for its turn. And, I saved over $200 by doing it myself. That’s good, I have some gas money now.
I met my photo club friends at Kraft Azalea Garden today and took pictures, mostly of egrets.

That’s the equinox report. Thanks for reading!
Every day is a blessing. Don’t waste it- Go fishing! Go paddling! Go walking! Stay active!
