One Day Mosquito Lagoon Report

One Day Mosquito Lagoon Report

Thank you for reading this One Day Mosquito Lagoon report. Sadly I did not fish enough this week. But I did get out, and we caught a few fishies.

I saw a new pulmonologist Tuesday at the University of Florida. Since Gainesville is 2.5 hours away by car, there went that day. And of course, I have to go back. We did not find a cure for my illness. But then, I did not expect to.

I met a new fishing victim, er, buddy, through the photo club. His name is Rick and he lives down the street from me! I picked him up Thursday at 0700, and, towing the Bang-O-Craft we drove to River Breeze. The sun was out, the winds were light, the air was warm, and life was good. Rick does not fly fish so I left the fly pole home.

Our first spot turned up nothing.

Our second spot was the trout nursery. We got at least a dozen undersized trout, using soft plastics. I suggested we look elsewhere or all we’d catch would be undersized trout.

Out third spot was the charm. Not that it was hot, mind you, but using DOA Shrimp we hit a fish every ten minutes or so, all trout in the slot. Heck, I even saw some in the water, although I did not get any of them. And even saw two redfish- didn’t get them either. All but two trout were released, and we loaded up around 1300.

I stopped at CS Lee park on the way home to flush the motor, and the trailer ball came out of the receiver- the nut holding it on had completely rusted away. First of all, I am so lucky it happened at a boat ramp and not on the highway, and second, I guess I need to replace the ball more frequently than every thirty years. I used a piece of rope to tie everything together and made it home without incident. And Rick gave me a new ball he had hanging around. It’s already on the van. Thank you, sir!

Letting this get this bad was pretty irresponsible of me.

Friday a plumber came, tying me up for the morning. No fishing, on a nice day, too.

That’s the One Day Mosquito Lagoon report. Thanks for reading!

Every day is a blessing. Don’t waste it- Go fishing! Go paddling! Go walking! Stay active!
