The Move to California Report
Thank you for reading this Move to California Report. I am glad June is over, with all its bizarre medical stuff. We have not yet sold our house, but the realtor is running an open house this weekend. It’s nice house in a great place- I’m sure it will sell.
A couple weeks ago I wrote, “While showering, I suddenly felt tingly, followed by a wave of dizziness. We have one of those old-people grab bars in the shower now. If it hadn’t been there, I might have fallen.”
My first thought was, “The door is locked. How will the rescuers get in?” The things that go through one’s mind. I also thought, “This will pass.”

It did.
But afterward I felt out of phase somehow. I don’t know how else to describe it. I didn’t quite feel like the John I’ve known for 73 years. Which was both strange and unsettling.

I had hoped those episodes were over, but they were not done with me yet. I had at least one more to go, this one at 33,000 feet, an awful place to feel awful. A lady across the aisle from us (Maxx, Susan, and me) observed my distress and came over to offer assistance. She was a doctor, although other than moral support there wasn’t much she could do. That was OK- we all appreciated the moral support.
When we got to San Francisco, I could not walk. We had to wait 40 minutes while they cleaned the plane, and waited for United to bring us wheelchairs. At least Susan could walk off. They had to bring the wheelchair to my seat on the plane, then pick me up and put me in it. I may have been using a barf bag at the time, just a complete nightmare of a trip. Maxx and Catalina had to carry me and my things into their house. I am still not fully recovered. Hopefully tomorrow- we have to find a place to live!
As an extra special piece of aggravation, I got an alert from my credit card company this morning. My card has been compromised. Ay, caramba!
That’s the move to California Report. I hope things start going better soon! Thanks for reading.
Every day is a blessing. Don’t waste it. Go fishing! Go paddling! Go walking! Stay active!
