A Trip to the Wetlands Park Report
Thank you for reading this Trip to the Wetlands Park Report. Didn’t fish this week for a couple reasons. The first is, our 20-year old heat pump gave it up and we had to get a new one. That meant internet research, phone calls, interviews and estimates, installation, and writing a check. It ate up a lot of the week. Also, it rained heavily one day this week. Mike Conneen told me they got 13 inches of rain at his place in Grant. Here’s what it did to the water levels-

As a reminder, I like the Econ gauge at two feet or less, and the Haulover gauge at about 0.5. The water is just too high right now for fishing to be good.

I have an article about fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands in the November issue of Florida Sportsman magazine. It features Mike Conneen. Please check it out!

Wednesday morning I went for a walk on the Florida Trail. It was still pretty jungly. At least I only got one chigger. There was what I think was a large bear poop on the trail, which was not photographed, and a bear pawprint, which was, although badly. There were quite a few mosquitoes, too. Still, a nice walk was had.

Thursday, still wanting to walk but not wanting the bugs, I went to the Wetlands Park. Good call! The temperature was 57 degrees when I left the house. The water was higher than I’d ever seen it there, and there was a lot less bird activity than during nesting time. Also, there were hardly any insects there, and I saw but one alligator. It seems no one liked the chilly wind. Still got a few photos, though, and had another nice walk.

Friday our new heat pump was installed. It’s running right now!
That’s the Trip to the Wetlands Park Report. Thanks for reading it!
Every day is a blessing. Don’t waste it- Go fishing! Go paddling! Go walking! Stay active!
